It is our privilege and joy to start children on their precious learning adventure.
At Falcons Prep Richmond, we provide a happy, safe environment where children feel comfortable enough to pursue their own curiosity. From Day One, they are encouraged to learn through real-life, hands-on experiences, to explore, to discover and to deepen their own understanding in the process.
Beyond the classroom, Forest School takes learning outside to settings including the Astro, the Richmond Scottish Rugby Grounds and Old Deer Park. It is a key part of building pupils’ independence, developing their risk-awareness and opening their eyes to the world around them.
We document and share children’s learning experiences both inside the classroom and also via digital channels so that children, parents and teachers are included in a continual dialogue about their progress.
Registration must be completed by mid-October in the year prior to entry. Boys are then invited to attend a ‘Meet and Greet’ session in the Spring Term prior to the year of entry. The sessions, held in the school’s Reception Classroom, act as an informal assessment, where groups of no more than 10 boys will play, listen to a story and take part in some fun activities while parents meet with the Headmistress. Notification letters will be issued in January (with acceptances required by the end of February) before Welcome Sessions and home visits from the Head of early Years in the summer term. School then commences in September.
