Learning support

Based on our commitment to help every boy fulfil their potential, the Learning Support Department plays a central role at Falcons Prep.

Learning Support is provided by an experienced and specialised team of teachers to those pupils who need help with literacy, numeracy or general study skills. We operate an inclusive Open Door policy, recognising that at some point during their academic career, most boys will require a level of additional support to match their changing needs.

The type of support provided includes supported prep sessions, essay planning/comprehension strategies, revision sessions for Year 7 and 8 pupils, touch typing classes and withdrawn targeted interventions tailored to the individual child’s needs. Wherever possible, support teachers will work in the classroom to assist boys requiring additional help.

For pupils whose SEND has already been identified, we work closely with parents and external agencies to ensure we have the resources to meet their individual needs.

In all cases where Learning Support is provided, we concentrate our efforts on building a child’s self-esteem and encouraging their self-belief, helping them grow to be best they can be.
