New Head of Early Years

falcon

We are delighted to welcome James Davis as our new Head of Early Years starting in June 2020. James has a wealth of experience in the Independent Education and EYFS sector and has taught in Nursery, Reception and Year 1 classes.

James Davis grew up in Dulwich with his parents and two brothers. He graduated from Bangor University with a BSc in Environmental Management before beginning his teaching career. Prior to teacher training, James assisted in a number of schools including Independent, Maintained and Special Educational Needs. James was awarded Qualified Teacher Status after training through the Schools Direct route at a large multi-academy trust associated with Canterbury Christ Church University. During his training year James taught in the Early Years, Key Stage One and Key Stage Two. It was here he discovered his passion for the Early Years and child led learning.

James was appointed as a teacher at an Independent School in South London and has taught in the Nursery, Reception and Year One over the last six years. During his time at the school James completed a Masters in Early Years Education at University College London. James has a strong interest in outdoor learning and made the decision to develop this as he trained to be a Forest School Level 3 leader. This has enabled him to lead Forest School sessions from Nursery to Year Six. Alongside his teaching role, James works part time for the National Autistic Society where he assists in the running of a football club.

James lives in Kent with his partner Emilie, son Arthur and two dogs Patsy and Bertie. James enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, walking, visiting National Trust properties and holidays to his family home in Scotland.
