Year 3 rugby reports
Year 3 Blues vs Denmead, 4-7 and vs Orchard House, 6-6
The Year 3 Blues started their campaign against a well drilled and disciplined Denmead outfit. The boys showed plenty of promise but were unfortunately on the wrong end of the scoreline. Lots of lessons were learned from this outing and the boys showed this with a hugely improved performance against a similarly strong Orchard House side. The boys had the better of the play but could not quite shake off their opponents. Everyone gave 100% and good things are to come for this group of boys.
Year 3 Barbarians vs Denmead, 4-6 and vs Orchard House, 11-3
The Year 3 Barbarians had two fixtures this week. The first on Tuesday against Denmead was an even contest and the boys were unlucky to lose 6-4. Two days later the boys took on Orchard House. With some valuable lessons learnt from their first fixture the boys put in an excellent performance and deserved their 11-3 victory. This impressive result was down to the Barbarians exceptional teamwork and all contributed significantly. The signs are very positive that the Barbarians will enjoy a very successful season this year.
Year 3 Saxons vs Denmead, 9-9
The Saxons began their season on Tuesday afternoon with a spirited display against a well organised Denmead side. In muddy conditions, the boys showed great determination to overturn a 2 try half time deficit and draw the game 9 tries to 9. Oliver Onillon and Oscar Pownall both demonstrated flight of foot. Ollie scored an impressive 5 tries, with Oscar chipping in with a Hat-Trick. Elsewhere, Eddie Lund showed dogged determination in defence and captain Cornelius McGrath played with intelligence at scrum-half.
