School Curriculum

Our Teaching Style and the Curriculum
The boys are taught throughout most of their time at the school by specialist subject teachers, although in Years Three and Four the class teacher plays a more pivotal role in the delivery of the curriculum. Boys will be assessed in Maths and English prior to entering the school and then will be set in those subjects. The school will aim to have a maximum class size of eighteen, small enough for adequate one-on-one time whilst large enough for group activities and discussions to thrive.

Academic subjects will be taught in line with the National Curriculum but the boys will not be confined by the national targets, as each boy will be encouraged to attain his full potential. In addition, all boys will have the opportunity to take part in an exciting sports programme, which will take place during the course of the school day and as after school activities.

Additional Support
Specialist teaching will be provided in English and Mathematics for those on the gifted and talented programme and for those requiring some additional help. Boys will be set by ability in English and Mathematics and will be taught in non-selective groups for the rest of the curriculum.
